5 Time Management Tips for Small Business Owner
5 Time Management Tips for Small Business Owner
Hi reader’s, I want to share some tips on how to manage your time better in your business.
You know, managing time in your business should be a high priority for you. You want to maximize profits and the way to do that is when you spend more time on income-producing activities than you do on non-income-producing activities. To that end, I wanted to share five tips with you today on how to manage your time in your business better so you can make more money, help more people and spend more time outside of your business helping more people and living a joyful life.
Step 1:- The first time management secret is to focus on generating income. I recommend you separate your tasks into separate lists: those that produce income and those that don’t. Then you’ll want to set up a system that enables you to spend the right amount of time doing income-producing tasks while making it easy to do the other tasks, which may not produce income but still need to be accomplished.
My recommendation is that you set up your schedule to spend no more than 50% of your time on working with clients. That way, you have plenty of time for marketing or client attraction and administration.
Step 2:- The second secret is that there’s really no secret. You can’t manage time but you can manage what you do with your time so you want to set goals. When you have daily, weekly, monthly goals written out very explicitly, it’s an important fact in effective time management for any business owner. If you don’t know what needs to be done and what you’re working toward, you’ll just be flailing around with no direction.
Ask yourself: What’s your ultimate business goal? What goal do you want to accomplish this year? What are the steps that you need to take to achieve that goal? Make sure that your goals enable you to get closer to your ultimate business goal or vision.
Step 3 is to create a plan. You must have a written plan if you want to get to managing your time successfully. Just like you need a map to go on a cross-country trip, you need to plan to achieve your business goals. The best way to create an accurate and workable plan is to start with the end goal and work your way backwards toward today. Making the plan does more than just help you reach your goals. It helps you to manage your time effectively while arriving at your destination healthy and happy. Having a business is an exciting journey in which to take part, but if you have no plan and you’re so harried that you can’t breathe, it’ll feel more like a nightmare.
Step 4 is to schedule everything. The truth is, you can have all the time management secrets for business owners written out, planned, but without creating a schedule, you can’t get a hold of the time in a helpful way.
In addition to focusing on income-generating tasks, setting goals and crafting plans of action, it is imperative that you schedule things. Your schedule can be adjusted but if you make it a rule that you only reschedule for truly important reasons and emergencies, you’ll find yourself with more time and you’ll be accomplishing the most important things. You’ll have time to do what you want to do with your business as well as with your family and friends.
Step 5 is to track results. This is one of the most important secrets for business owners. Once you create a plan of action and you start implementing it, you want to track the results to see if you’re accomplishing the goals you’ve set out to realize. If you’re not seeing the results that you want, then you can re-work it, each aspect of your goals and your plan, evaluating your calendar to make sure you’re getting the most out of each job. There’s no way to know that, though, unless you write those goals to begin with and then you track your results against them.
Even with those five tips in mind, does it ever seem like other business owners are super productive, releasing program after program, getting all kinds of successes, while you plod along every day, buried in your to-do list and unfinished tasks? Well, I know that feeling. In fact, I used to wonder why everyone else got so much done while I just seemed too busy all the time.
The truth is some business owners and marketers are insanely productive, but the only difference between you and them is that they have a system, and you don’t. A system that they’ve developed and honed over the years to ensure that they’re always on the top of their game and doing what is most important so they can get more clients, have a bigger reach and help a lot more people. You don’t have to waste years developing your own super productivity system. I’ve worked it out for you. All you have to do is follow my lead and you’ll discover the exact tools and techniques I use in my own business to make sure I get done in less time.
You see, I love my work but there are other things I’m interested in too, like going out and eating delicious meals at local restaurants or jumping out of an airplane. I want you to imagine for a moment how different your life would be if only you were able to get things done more efficiently and quickly.
I mean, you’d have more time to spend with your friends and your family. You’d have more energy for your volunteer activities and you’d be able to create more programs and products and increase your income bigger than you ever thought possible. Simply be being more productive, you can have more free time and more joy.
